principles in this case are applicable to all other supervisory positions. They will update you on the latest developments on determining
supervisory status, including an analysis of how this decision impacts existing collective-bargaining agreements and how non-union health
care institutions can use this decision for proper planning purposes. This session will provide human resource professionals with
practical insights on best practices relating to labor relations and supervisory positions.

For nine years the New England Healthcare Employees Union District 1199 has been waging a highly publicized organizing
campaign at Yale-New Haven Hospital, aimed at unionizing 1,800 service workers of Connecticut's largest hospital and healthcare
employer. Armed with financial resources, political clout and the support of community interest groups, the union has attacked the
institution, its leadership and management practices in an effort to sway public opinion and increase its membership rolls.
Hospital CEO's in Boston are feeling the threat of the corporate campaign as they watch similar drama play out in medical centers
across the U.S. Ed Dowling, Yale-New Haven's chief human resources executive and Vincent Petrini, chief media spokesperson, will
provide an update on the hospital's experience and share lessons learned.
